What's the best natural way to remove facial hair?

Laser Hair Removal

In this method, a laser destroys hair follicles with heat. Lasers are prescription devices that should be used only under the direction of a licensed practitioner. If a topical anesthetic product is recommended before a laser hair removal procedure to minimize pain, FDA recommends that consumers discuss with a medical professional the circumstances under which the cream should be used, and whether the use is appropriate.

Those who decide to use a skin-numbing product should follow the directions of a health care provider and consider using a product that contains the lowest amount of anesthetic drugs possible. FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research has received reports of serious and life-threatening side effects after use of large amounts of skin-numbing products for laser hair removal.

Side effects of laser hair removal can include blistering, discoloration after treatment, swelling, redness, and scarring. Sunlight should be avoided during healing after the procedure.

Waxing, Sugaring, and Threading

Unlike chemical depilatories that remove hair at the skin's surface, these methods pluck hairs out of the follicle, below the surface.

With waxing, a layer of melted wax is applied to the skin and allowed to harden. (Cold waxes, which are soft at room temperature, allow the user to skip the steps of melting and hardening.) It is then pulled off quickly in the opposite direction of the hair growth, taking the uprooted hair with it. Labeling of waxes may caution that these products should not be used by people with diabetes and circulatory problems. Waxes should not be used over varicose veins, moles, or warts. Waxes also shouldn't be used on eyelashes, the nose, ears, or on nipples, genital areas, or on irritated, chapped, or sunburned skin. As with chemical depilatories, it can be a good idea to do a preliminary test on a small area for allergic reaction or irritation.

Sugaring is similar to waxing. A heated sugar mixture is spread on the skin, sometimes covered with a strip of fabric, and then lifted off to remove hair. Threading is an ancient technique in which a loop of thread is rotated across the skin to pluck the hair. All of these techniques may cause skin irritation and infection.

Shaving

Shaving hair only when it's wet, and shaving in the direction in which the hairs lie, can help lessen skin irritation and cuts. It's important to use a clean razor with a sharp blade. Contrary to popular belief, shaving does not change the texture, color, or growth rate of hair. Razors and electric shavers are under the jurisdiction of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

BLEACHING IS ALSO AN OPTION

I would suggest a hair-removal cream. Its so easy... every 2-3 weeks put it on desired area for about 5 minutes before showering.

Its so easy, and the stuff out now is really good about not irritating your skin. (as long as it is specifically for your face.)

I don't think there's a natural way to remove something that's naturally there, technically. But if you wanna get rid of face hair, I'd suggest getting a wax. I got laser hair removal treatments but they were EXPENSIVE and they only work on very dark hairs (not the light ones) plus you have to go back for treatment twice a year. Get yourself a good wax and then just keep up with tweezers every day. It's probably the cheapest and easiest thing to do.

plucking is the cheapest way and i find it works the best do it directly after you take a shower because the warm water makes you pores open up so there is less pain if plucking isn't your thing i would have it professionally done because your face is very sensitive so i would be careful with what you put on it

waxing is the best. you can buy hot or cold wax and do it easily at home. if you do cold wax the usually sell it in packages. cut a small piece and then rub it between you hands so that it gets war. then take the two pieces apart and stick it really well on the place you want to. make sure that its sticking the right way. so if the hair grows towards the left you have to stick it so that when you pull it the little wax strip goes to the right. then pull reeaallly quickly the strip off. but DONT do it slowl. because it will hurt like hell and it wont get the hair off. but if you pull it quickly it will hurt like hell BUT it will get the hair off. and dont worry after a while the place gets numb:D and if you wax once you dont have to wax for the next 3-4 weeks.

10/19/2007: Gina from Alex City, AL writes: "Excessive Hair on Women-- I have been an herbalist for over 20 years and I have to disagree about the lack of estrogen being the cause. The cause is too much estrogen and too much testosterone. A women should do Agnus Castus on days 14-28 of her period, along with progesterone cream to cut off the estrogen. She could also benefit from Saw Palmetto on those days also. The first day of the menstrual cycle is the first day of her period and so would be counted as day 1. I have helped many women with this problem and also to help women get pregnant who could not get pregnant because of too much estrogen which is so prevalent in our society due to all the chemicals and hormones added to foods, not to mention birth control pills, etc."

2/15/2007: Ted replies, "It is difficult to say, since I don't know whether you are a woman or a man. If you are a woman, it may be that the ovaries are not producing enough estrogen and you have excess male hormones. Basically the ovaries are getting calcified but can be restored to normal by just taking some magnesium supplements, which is somewhat antagonistic, with calcium, and also taking some apple cider vinegar or lemon with baking soda.

The usual formula is 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda taken three times a day. Or you can use one whole lime and approximately 1/2 to 1 level teaspoons of baking soda with water. Taken for two weeks should help stabilize the hormones. Certain medications can cause terrible hair growth such as medrol and other similar medicines. Peppermint oil has somewhat of an estrogen effect and can help relieve some hormonal imbalances also if taken a couple of drops 3 times a day.

In case of men, maybe it is the same with woman where there is excess male hormones being produced, and therefore peppermint oil and licorice extract might help in certain cases. Generally magnesium should help balance the hormones and you can take that in the form of sunflower oil. Evening primrose oil might help, but try the other ones first. Ted"
